San Dimas March 2020 Election: A Recap

When most of the candidates for City Council and Mayor share the same priorities of “public safety” and “quality of life”, it can be hard to tell what really sets each person apart. In this last week before the election, I thought it would be helpful to do a quick summary of all the candidates, recapping the major issues and characteristics that I believe make each one stand out. I also briefly review the arguments for and against the sales tax Measure SD.
Listen to my in-depth interviews with each City Council candidate below:
Candidate Spotlight: John Ebiner
Candidate Spotlight: David Estrada
Candidate Spotlight: Nichole Gonzales
Candidate Spotlight: Emma Ramirez

love your sneakers! thanks for the summary of city candidate’s positions. & for a brief summary of the community meeting to discuss the special plan survey results. you asked about my voting preferences: i voted for bernie sanders, emma ramirez, grace napolitano, anthony portantino, chris holden, john harabedian, todd jones, jackie lacey, no on prop 13, no on sd, & no on fd. they say all politics is local. i voted for emma ramirez because i love her passion & energy for our city

Thanks for the comments, BJ! I appreciate hearing your thoughts about voting and why you voted as you did. You seem really interested and engaged in these issues–I hope you continue to spread the word to your friends and neighbors in San Dimas! Best, Isabel

you are welcome isabel. i posted a link to your podcasts on nextdoor for my via verde & surrounding neighbors to view if they are so inclined. as a via verde resident i watch what decisions council makes that impact our neighborhood – for better or worse. best wishes to you in your endeavours to make downtown more vibrant & attractive to shoppers & walkers. also best wishes with your efforts to save & revitalize the san dimas lemon packing house. i love to shop and eat at special, unique places. being from the sf bay area i spent many hours at unique historic places there. living in a dorm at ucla i enjoyed the opportunities westwood offered for walking, shopping & entertainment for students & wealthy westwood homeowners as well. too bad the former sunkist orange packing house burned down in the san dimas fire of 1955 as i think it would have made another of those special, unique shopping & eating places instead of the ugly albertson’s shopping center..
